Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 10, 2026Last updated: October 13, 2026

ScrapMax LLC (“ScrapMax,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect information when you use the ScrapMax mobile application, the ScrapMax website (including www.scrapmax.app), and related support services (collectively, the “Services”).

By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Services.

1 Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you use ScrapMax.

Account and profile information

When you create or use an account, we may receive your name, email address, account identifier, authentication status, and related profile information. Login credentials may be handled by our authentication provider. ScrapMax does not receive or store your full password when authentication is handled by that provider.

Price sheets and scrap yard information

When you photograph or upload a scrap yard price sheet or price board, we may collect:

  • The image or file you provide;
  • Yard names, locations, addresses, and other yard information;
  • Material names, categories, units, and prices;
  • Text and data extracted from the image;
  • Corrections, approvals, material matches, and yard-specific terminology you provide; and
  • Related dates, notes, and processing information.

ScrapMax uses optical character recognition and other automated processing to extract information from images. Automated results may be incomplete or inaccurate, so you should review extracted information before relying on it.

Loads sales and receipts

When you plan a load or record a sale, we may collect:

  • Materials, estimated or actual weights, quantities, and pricing units;
  • Estimated values, actual prices, deductions, and total amounts paid;
  • Scrap yard details and transaction dates;
  • Receipt photographs or uploaded receipt files;
  • Text and transaction details extracted from receipts;
  • Notes, corrections, sale history, and receipt-processing status; and
  • Other information you choose to include in a record or image.

Receipts and price sheets may contain personal or sensitive information. Please avoid uploading information that is not needed to use ScrapMax, and redact unnecessary information when practical.

Camera photos and files

With your permission, ScrapMax may access your device camera to take a photograph or your device’s photo or file selection tools so you can choose an image or document to upload. ScrapMax uses that access to provide the feature you requested. Device permissions can be managed through your device settings.

Material identification photo contributions

If you choose to contribute scrap photos for material-identification development, we collect the submitted images, your selected ScrapMax material label or “not sure” response, observations about the item, how the identification was confirmed, your account identifier, and the version and time of your contribution consent.

We remove embedded image metadata, including GPS information, when processing accepted files. Contributions are accessible to authorized people and service providers for the purposes described in this policy and are reviewed before they may enter an identification-development dataset. We will not publish your contributed photos in public galleries or marketing materials, or publicly identify you as the photographer, without your separate permission.

The Photo Contribution Terms explain the permissions you grant when you choose to contribute.

Location related information

We may process locations that you enter or that are contained in yard or transaction records, such as a scrap yard address. If ScrapMax offers a feature that uses your device’s location, we will request the appropriate device permission and use that information to provide the location-based feature. You can deny or revoke device-location permission through your device settings, although some location-based features may then be unavailable.

Support feedback and diagnostic information

When you contact us or submit a support request, bug report, material suggestion, or feature suggestion, we may collect your contact information, message, attachments, and any information you include. If supplied through the app or support form, diagnostic information may include the app version, build number, device type, operating-system version, current screen or feature, timestamps, network status, and technical error details.

Device log and usage information

We and our service providers may automatically collect limited technical information needed to operate, protect, and troubleshoot the Services. This may include Internet Protocol (IP) address, device and operating-system information, app version, request timestamps, authentication events, crash or error details, and interactions with features.

Website technologies

Our websites use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies that are necessary for login, security, preferences, and basic operation. With your permission, www.scrapmax.app and support.scrapmax.app also use Google Analytics to understand page visits, browser and device information, and website interactions. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish visits and processes this information for website measurement. Learn more about how Google uses information from websites that use its services. The Google Analytics tag is not loaded until you choose “Allow analytics.” You may decline without losing access to website features and change your choice using “Analytics Preferences” on either website. We store your choice for six months and share that preference between these two websites. Withdrawing permission stops future analytics collection; it does not automatically delete information already collected. Advertising storage, advertising personalization, and Google signals are disabled for this tag. We will update this policy and provide any legally required choices before introducing other nonessential analytics or advertising technologies.

Purchase information

If ScrapMax offers paid features through an app store or another payment provider, that provider processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. We may receive limited purchase information, such as subscription status, product purchased, transaction identifier, and renewal or expiration information. We do not receive your complete payment-card number from an app store purchase.

2 How We Use Information

We may use information to:

  • Create, authenticate, secure, and maintain accounts;
  • Provide and synchronize ScrapMax features;
  • Import and organize price-sheet information;
  • Process receipt images and create sale records;
  • Match scrap yard wording to ScrapMax materials;
  • Review, label, annotate, edit, and use contributed scrap photos, accompanying information, and derived copies to develop, train, fine-tune, test, validate, operate, and improve ScrapMax’s material-identification models and related features, including features offered commercially, when you provide separate contribution consent under the Photo Contribution Terms;
  • Calculate load estimates and display sales history;
  • Compare prices and payment history available to your account;
  • Respond to questions and support requests, investigate bug reports, and review material or feature suggestions;
  • Diagnose errors, maintain performance, and improve reliability using diagnostic and usage information;
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and security incidents;
  • Communicate service, security, account, and policy updates;
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements; and
  • Use corrections and content you submit to improve ScrapMax for users only in aggregated or de-identified form that cannot reasonably be linked to you, unless we separately disclose another use and obtain any consent required by law.

We will not use information for materially different purposes without providing notice and obtaining consent when required by law.

3 How We Disclose Information

Service providers

We may provide information to companies that perform services for us, such as authentication, cloud hosting, database storage, object or image storage, OCR or document processing, error monitoring, customer support, email delivery, and payment processing. These providers receive information only as needed to perform services for ScrapMax and are subject to applicable contractual or legal obligations.

Providers may also help with contribution review, labeling, and material-identification model training or operation. Providers that process contributions on our behalf must be subject to contractual restrictions on use, confidentiality, and deletion. They may process contributions only to provide services to ScrapMax for the disclosed purposes; they are not authorized to use them to train models independently for their own purposes.

At your direction

We may disclose information when you direct us to export, send, or share it, or when you connect ScrapMax to another service.

Legal safety and security reasons

We may disclose information when we reasonably believe doing so is necessary to comply with law or valid legal process; protect the rights, safety, and security of users, ScrapMax, or others; investigate fraud or abuse; or enforce our agreements.

Business transfers

If ScrapMax is involved in a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of its business or assets, information may be disclosed as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

Aggregated or deidentified information

We may use or disclose information that has been aggregated or de-identified so that it cannot reasonably be linked to an individual. We will not attempt to re-identify it except as permitted by law to test whether our de-identification methods are effective.

4 No Sale of Personal Information or Targeted Advertising

ScrapMax does not sell or rent personal information. ScrapMax does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or use receipt or price-sheet information to target third-party advertisements.

If these practices change, we will update this policy and provide any choices required by law before the change takes effect.

5 Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the Services, protecting security, resolving disputes, and meeting legal obligations.

Account information: Generally retained while your account remains active or until you request account deletion, subject to the deletion process and limited retention described below.

User content, including price sheets, receipts, loads, and sales records: Generally retained while your account remains active unless you remove it earlier through an available permanent-deletion feature, or until you request account deletion, subject to the deletion process and limited retention described below. Archiving a record changes its status or visibility but does not permanently delete it.

Temporary processing files: Images, upload artifacts, and processing records that are no longer needed may be removed through routine cleanup processes. These processes do not extend the account-deletion timelines below.

Contributed scrap photos: Retained while your account remains active unless you request removal of a contribution or account deletion. Rejected submissions may be removed sooner. Once we verify a removal or account-deletion request, we stop further training use of the affected contributions and remove their original photos, stored derived image copies, and associated labels, descriptions, and confirmation information from active systems, including training datasets, within 30 calendar days. Copies in protected backups follow the backup timetable below. The limited retained-record exceptions below apply, but retained contributions are not used for training. We will act sooner where required by applicable law.

Previously trained models: Deleting a contribution does not, by itself, require reversing completed training or retraining an existing model. Subject to the Photo Contribution Terms, our commitments in this Privacy Policy, and applicable law, ScrapMax may continue using and further developing models lawfully trained using contributions before we verify the relevant removal or account-deletion request, including later versions developed without further training use of the contributions being deleted. Lawfully created anonymous aggregate statistical improvements may also remain.

This model-use provision does not authorize keeping original photos or stored derived image copies beyond the deletion and limited-retention provisions of this policy. Applicable deletion commitments and legal obligations also apply to personal information retained in models. If those commitments or obligations require us to remove information from, modify, delete, or stop using a model, we will do so.

Support and feedback records and technical logs: Generally retained for up to 12 months after the support or feedback matter is closed or the logged event occurs. That routine period does not justify keeping your personal information after account deletion; a specific retention exception must apply.

Deleted account information: We will delete your account and associated personal information from active systems within 30 calendar days after we verify your request, subject to the limited retention below. Residual copies may remain in protected backups for up to 90 calendar days after deletion from active systems. This means backup copies may remain for up to 120 calendar days after verification. Backup copies are restricted from ordinary use and are not used to reactivate your deleted account.

Limited retained records: We may retain the minimum information necessary to meet a legal obligation, address a fraud or security incident, or resolve a dispute, where retention is permitted by law. Access and use are restricted to that purpose. The information is deleted when the reason for retaining it ends.

When personal information is no longer needed, we delete it. Already-anonymous statistics that cannot reasonably be linked to you may remain. This does not authorize keeping identifiable receipts, images, or account records.

Independently maintained public yard listings and general material reference information are not deleted with your account; this is not an exception for your account-associated contributions.

6 Your Choices and Privacy Rights

Review and correction

ScrapMax may allow you to review or correct account details, extracted price-sheet data, sale records, and other information within the app. You may also contact us to request assistance.

Camera photo file and location permissions

You can grant or revoke device permissions through your device settings. Revoking permission does not delete information previously uploaded to ScrapMax.

Communications

You may opt out of nonessential promotional emails by using the unsubscribe method in the message. We may still send important service, security, transaction, and account communications.

Account and data deletion

You may also request removal of a specific contributed photo without deleting your ScrapMax account by emailing contact@scrapmax.app and identifying the contribution you want removed. We may need to verify your identity and identify the affected contribution. The contribution-deletion process and timeframes in Section 5 apply. Removal of a contribution does not, by itself, delete your account.

You may request permanent deletion of your ScrapMax account and associated personal information by following the instructions on our Delete Account & Data page or by emailing contact@scrapmax.app with the subject line Account and Data Deletion Request. The email link opens your email app; you must send the email to submit the request. You do not need to explain why you want to delete your account.

Use your account email if you still have access to it. If you cannot sign in or access that email, contact us from an address where you can receive replies. Include your original account email and explain the access problem. We will explain the verification steps available. You do not need to reinstall the app or restore access before contacting us.

We will review your request promptly and contact you if verification information is needed. We use reasonable checks to protect your account from unauthorized deletion. We will never ask you to send your password by email. Do not email government identification, payment-card details, or unnecessary receipt images with your initial request. If further information is needed, we will explain what is required and how to provide it securely.

Deleting the app from your device does not delete your ScrapMax account. Before requesting deletion, retain independent copies of records you want to keep and, if an export tool is available, use it to export those records. Completed account deletion cannot be undone. Copies you saved outside ScrapMax, such as downloaded files, photos, or exports, remain under your control. Delete those separately if you no longer want them.

Account deletion permanently removes your account and profile information and access through that account; price-sheet and receipt images, extracted information, loads, sales, and related personal records; and your notes, corrections, material matches, yard terminology, contributed scrap photos and stored derived image copies, including copies in training datasets, and other account-associated contributions, including personal information in shared content. Deletion is subject only to the timelines and limited retention described in Section 5.

We will also request corresponding deletion from service providers processing this information on our behalf. We will confirm when active-system deletion is complete and explain any applicable remaining retention.

Rights provided by law

Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of personal information; obtain information about how personal information is used or disclosed; withdraw consent; restrict or object to certain processing; or appeal our response to a request.

To exercise a privacy right, email contact@scrapmax.app with the subject line Privacy Request. We may need to verify your identity. Authorized agents may submit requests when permitted by law, but we may require proof of authorization. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

Because ScrapMax does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no need to opt out of those practices.

7 Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls and protections for information transmitted between the app and our servers. No security method or electronic storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for protecting access to your device and account and for notifying us if you believe your account has been compromised.

8 Age Restrictions and Privacy of Children

ScrapMax is intended for adults who are at least 18 and have reached the legal age of majority where they live. Anyone who does not meet both requirements may not create or use a ScrapMax account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we do not knowingly maintain accounts for anyone who does not meet ScrapMax’s age requirements.

If we learn that an account holder does not meet those requirements, we will take reasonable steps to close the account and delete the associated personal information, subject to the limited retention and backup periods described in Section 5. A parent or guardian who believes an ineligible minor has provided information to ScrapMax may contact us at contact@scrapmax.app.

9 Third Party Services and Links

The Services may contain links to scrap yards, app stores, websites, or other services that you independently visit, choose, or transact with. Those independent services have their own privacy policies, and ScrapMax does not control their separate data practices.

This section does not apply to service providers processing information on ScrapMax’s behalf. Our use of those providers remains subject to this Privacy Policy and applicable law, and nothing in this section disclaims responsibility that ScrapMax cannot legally transfer to a provider.

10 Processing in the United States

ScrapMax is based in the United States. If you use the Services from another country, your information may be processed and stored in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate, subject to applicable legal safeguards.

11 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as ScrapMax changes or as required by law. We will post the updated policy and revise the “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects your privacy rights, we will provide additional notice when required.

Where a change requires consent, including a materially different use of previously collected information, we will obtain that consent before applying the change to that information. Updating this policy does not, by itself, expand the photo license you granted under the Photo Contribution Terms or eliminate commitments applicable to earlier contributions.
